Many countries now have people from different cultures and ethnic groups.
What is the reason for this? Is it a positive or negative development?

It is a common phenomenon that many countries have people from diverse cultures and ethnic groups Several factors can account for the phenomenon and i think it is a positive development as a whole despite some negative influences.

The situation has historical reasons. Many residents are actually descendants of ancient colonists who took over the country hundreds of years ago. For example, Britain used to control a large number of colonies and the colonists descendants are now spread almost all over the world In addition the development of globalization drives labor force from underdeveloped countries to developed countries to make a fortune. Thanks to modern transportation immigration cross the world becomes much easier than ever before.

From my point of view, this development has benefits and drawbacks at the same time. One of the most obvious benefits is that different people bring different cultures and multiculturalism boots cultural integration, which is beneficial to smooth cultural barriers and discrimination Moreover. due to the fact that people from different cultures tend to think in different ways, it can promote creativity in thinking, thus making breakthroughs in social innovation. However. cultural assimilation can arise because mutual interaction will change people’s perspectives and values. Gradually they grow to think and behave alike. At a result, people no longer care about their origins and cultural heritages. Another potential problem is that it may cause ethnic conflicts. For example, Muslims regard pigs as food taboo. While people from other ethnic groups may require to supply pork in the supermarket.

Historical factors are unchangeable and the trend of globalization is irreversible. Cultural integration is positive to a large extent, but we should also solve the problems caused by cultural differences to build a more tolerant world.
