Describe an important decision made with the help of other people
You should say:
When it happened
Who helped you make this decision;
What the decision was;
And how you felt about it.

I’d like to talk about an experience that my father helped me choose my university XXX years ago.

In China, after taking College Entrance Exam, all students have to choose the university based on their performance in this exam. Unfortunately, my performance was not very good, so it was hard for me to choose the appropriate university.

When I was struggling in multiple universities, my father gave me a hand. He analyzed my present situation firstly and asked what major I would like to study. Luckily, he helped me rule out nearly half universities. And then he searched on the Internet about the rest schools. After we discussed for hours, we come to the conclusion that I should choose XXX university.

After studying in this university, I had to say that my father helped me make a good decision, because I like this school and it provides nearly all the resources I need. Until now, I still will ask for my father’s advice when I make big decisions.

Part 3

When young people are to make a decision, should they listen to some advice?
I think it is necessary. We are not wise enough to think comprehensively, so other people’s advice can help us make a better decision.

Who will be helpful when making decision in your country?
Maybe the old, because they have more experience than us and usually, they have long-term perspective. When making decisions, they can analyze the advantages and disadvantages more comprehensively so that we can make a better decision.

Who is more likely to make bad decisions, men or women?
It depends. I don’t think it’s related to gender, but about personality. People who are impatient are easier to make bad decisions because they don’t have patience to think questions thoroughly.

Should we trust the advice given by strangers for making decisions?
Generally, I won’t trust strangers because I don’t know them. it’s likely that they want to cheat us.

Do you think it is advisable listening to others’ advice when making decision?
Of course. As the saying goes, two heads are better than one. Listening to others’ advice can help us make a better decision because we can analyze the problem or issue together and have more good ideas.
