I’d like to talk about the Tang Dynasty, which is generally regarded as a high point in Chinese civilization, and a golden age of cosmopolitan culture. The Tang Dynasty continued for roughly 289 years, from 618, when the dynasty was founded, to 907. Chinese culture flourished and further matured during the Tang era. And it is considered the greatest age for Chinese poetry. There was a rich variety of historical literature compiled by scholars. In the first half of the dynasty’s rule, Buddhism became a major influence in Chinese culture, with large number of Buddhist temples built during this period. Known as the Emperor Gaozu of Tang, Li Yuan seized power during the decline and collapse of the Sui Empire, and founded the Tang Dynasty. During the region of him, the Tang dynasty reopened the Silk Road to the West, gaining many new technologies, cultural practices, rare luxury, and contemporary items. From my perspective, China was one of the most powerful countries during the Tang Dynasty. Chinese culture blossomed in literature, arts and philosophy, and was widely spread around the world.
